Women’s “How-To” construction clinic to precede National Women Build Week

The Women’s Business Council of Champaign County would like to invite you to join them as we Partner with Lowes and Habitat For Humanity for their 2017 “How-To” construction clinic Thursday April 27th from 6-8pmat Lowes.   The clinic precedes the upcoming tenth annual National Women Build Week events.  National Women Build Week, May 6-14encourages women across the country to devote at least one day to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through housing in their local communities. The project will support “Home for the Holidays”, a nationwide initiative by Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity to build or repair 1,000 homes alongside families in time for the holidays.

This year’s clinic features expert instruction on; how to safely use hand and power tools, how to frame walls, how to install exterior siding, and how to finish interior with paint and trim.  The local clinic will be held at Lowe’s Home Improvement Store, 1904 N Prospect in Champaign, onThursday April 27th from 6-8pm. Due to the size and nature of the clinic, no walk-ins can be accommodated.  Please pre-register at The $20 How-To Clinic registration donation will go directly to supporting the local Champaign County Women Build Program.

Clinic attendees will learn basic building skills in an all-women environment from Lowe’s and Habitat Construction staff.  Refreshments are provided by Rosati’s, with raffle items donated by members of the Women’s Business Council of Champaign County.
