The seventh-grade Bulldogs raised their volleyball winning streak to 13 matches with Thursday’s 25-18, 25-18 victory at Champaign St. Matthew, which built a 6-1 lead in the opening set.

The Bulldogs forced a tie at 14-14 and the teams were still even at 17-17 before Addi Eisenmann’s six-point service run sparked the first-set M-S win.

The Bulldogs had to come from behind in the second set. The team completed the mission thanks to service runs by Ellie Barker – who dropped in four consecutive aces – and Elana Religioso helped M-S secure the sweep, the team’s 18th two-set sweep this season.

On Monday, M-S won at Tolono Unity, 25-10, 25-8.

An eight-point run, with Emma Frazier at the service line, helped M-S break from a 7-7 tie and move into a 16-7 lead. Talia Francom’s kill capped off the first set triumph.

In the second set, the Bulldogs zipped into an 11-1 lead and built their margin from there.

On Saturday, M-S won all three of its matches and captured team honors in the Charleston Invitational.

The Bulldogs started off by outlasting Champaign Jefferson 25-21, 20-25, 25-9 and then swept Teutopolis 25-15, 25-6 and Charleston 25-10, 25-8.

M-S (19-3) returns to action on Tuesday at St. Joseph Middle School as it tries to reach the 20-win mark.

The eighth-grade Bulldogs had a three-match volleyball winning streak stopped on Thursday at Champaign St. Matthew as the Raiders upended M-S 25-18, 25-23.

The first set was deadlocked 18-18 before the home team reeled off the final seven points.

M-S regrouped in the second set and forged ahead 22-20 before St. Matthew landed five of the next six points to gain the win.

On Monday, M-S registered a convincing win at Tolono Unity 25-9, 25-15.

Tolono started strong in the opening set and held an early 4-3 lead before M-S got untracked.

Shelby Raver and Dawson teamed up for 11 service points to start the second set and, although the Rockets closed to within 20-15, the Bulldogs completed the sweep.
