Seven Bulldogs registered pins and 11 squad members went 2-0 for the night on Tuesday as M-S defeated its final two Apollo Conference opponents.

M-S overpowered Taylorville 67-9 and Charleston 65-9 in the M-S fieldhouse.

Logan Petro (138 pounds) pinned both of his opponents, including one fall in 40 seconds, which was the team’s fastest of the night.

Petro has pins in six consecutive matches.

Other Bulldogs who won twice and also registered a pin were Caden Hatton (106 pounds), Chance Decker (145 pounds), Peyton Myers (170 pounds), Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) and Daniel Renshaw (220 pounds).

M-S grapplers who also ended 2-0 for the night but didn’t have  a pin were Payton Ragona (113 pounds), Theo Ratliff (126 pounds), Gage Granadino (152 pounds), Colton Crowley (182 pounds) and Seth Buchanan (285 pounds).

Buchanan was accorded two forfeit wins, raising to six matches in a row where the opposing school has not sent anyone to the mat to contest him.

Braeden Heinold (132 pounds) went 1-1 on Tuesday, but his win was by pin.

M-S (21-1) concludes its regular season tonight at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. The Bulldogs were again ranked 22nd in this week’s Illinois Best Weekly state poll.

This year is the fifth time in the past eight years that the Bulldogs have registered a 20-win dual-meet season. Regardless of the outcome tonight, it will be the fewest dual-meet losses in a season since the 1999-00 team was 25-2.
