MSHS Softball closes regular season with win over Danville

Julia McNaught drove in five runs and three teammates socked home runs on Friday as the Bulldogs closed the regular season with a 15-8 triumph at Danville.

Aubrie Shore, Ashley Wheeler and Sam Tamburo were the M-S home run hitters.

Overall, six of the Bulldogs’ 14 hits went for extra bases.

McNaught poked three hits. Tamburo, Allison Nofziger, Ashley Campbell and Carlee Scott all contributed two hits apiece. Nofziger and Abigail Akers both scored three runs.

Shore pitched 4 2/3 innings and earned the win. She allowed five hits, four walks and struck out five batters. Karley Yergler worked the last 2 1/3 innings, yielding four hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

M-S has won six of its last eight games. The Bulldogs (18-10) return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in a Class 3A regional tournament that M-S will host. M-S will face the winner of a Monday game between Effingham and Champaign Central.
