Champaign County Electronics Recycling Collection Event May 18

An Electronics Recycling Collection Event will take place May 18, 2019, with online registration opening April 8 at 8 a.m.

REGISTRATION & EVENT DETAILS:There is a FOUR television limit per person/postcard (ALL TYPES, MODELS, AND SIZES OF TV’s, INCLUDING CRT TUBE TV’s, ARE ACCEPTED!) and a SEVEN ITEM TOTAL LIMIT.  (A computer monitor is NOT considered a TV.)ACCEPTED ITEMS: TVs, computers, computer monitors, printers, typewriters, electronic keyboards, facsimile machines, VCRs, DVD players/recorders, portable digital music players, video game consoles, electronic mice, scanners, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers, small scale servers, accessory computer/monitor speakers, ink & toner cartridges, loose wires (e.g., extension cords, surge protectors, cables), holiday string lights, all phones & phone accessories, digital cameras/mini cams, uninterrupted power supplies (e.g., battery backups, chargers), networking equipment (e.g., switches, routers, hubs, modems).  (Small items can be bundled or put into a small box & counted as only 1 item.)THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED; PLEASE CHECK YEAR-ROUND RECYCLING OPTIONS FOR THESE ITEMS:  liquid-containing items, freon-containing items (e.g., AC units, dehumidifiers), white goods (e.g., refrigerators, freezers), small appliances (e.g., blenders, coffee makers, toasters), lamps, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, stereo speakers (wooden, metal, or plastic), cash registers, thermostats, light bulbs, rechargeable & alkaline batteries, digital projectors, credit card readers, telecom equipment, external drives, circuit boards, ferrous & non-ferrous metals.
After you get registered for an event, you will immediately receive a confirmation email and/or text. If you do not receive a confirmation email and/or text, then you might not have registered completely. Please make sure that you submitted all of the required information and checked the required boxes, in order to secure your spot.
You will then receive a postcard in the mail approx. two weeks before the event  (the postcard will serve as your ‘ticket’ into the event).  If you do not receive your postcard by May 15th, you can just show your confirmation email/text at the event when you arrive -OR- if you do not have a postcard or a confirmation email/text, please call 217.403.4780 before the day of the event.
These events take place at Parkland College, 2400 W. Bradley Ave, Champaign; you must use the DUNCAN ROAD ENTRANCE & then follow the signs. Car pooling is allowed & encouraged (you can use multiple postcards for one vehicle).  ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED removing items from your vehicle; please do not have anything surrounding your electronics that you do not want taken out of your vehicle!  The events go ahead rain or shine, that includes thunder & lightning.  Keep in mind that rain will slow things down, but the wait is still minimal.  The weather would have to get very severe before we cancel.
COMMUNITIES PARTICIPATING IN SPRING 2019 EVENT:  TBDCommunities NOT participating:  TBD (So if you live in one of these communities, please do not register for this event, unless you live in ‘unincorporated Champaign County’.)
