Joe Nichols to headline Mahomet Music Festival

Chairman Dave Parsons announced the four acts that will be showcased at the Mahomet Music Festival on Aug. 23 and 24.

Friday night’s entertainment will kick-off with crowd favorite Nickel and Dimes followed by the Blooze Brothers, who will open up for Southern Accents on Aug. 23.

Jake and Elwood Blooze, performers from Chicago, have covered motown, soul, R & B, classic rock and swing music in their 11-piece show band for more than 25 years.

Named after Petty’s critically acclaimed sixth album, Southern Accents brings the sound and excitement of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to every stage they rock. The band’s set lists are chock-full of songs sure to resonate with Tom Petty fans young and old. Southern Accents tackles the likes of ‘American Girl,’ ‘You Got Lucky,’ and countless other iconic songs.

While the festival will continue to draw crowds in with carnival rides, vendor booths and activities throughout the day, fans can expect a night full of country music on Saturday.

In October, the Festival committee booked American Country Artist Joe Nichols to perform on the lawn of downtown Mahomet on Aug. 24.

Throughout the course of his career, Nichols has released nine studio albums which have produced over 14 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, including the Number One singles “Brokenheartsville“, “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off“, “Gimmie That Girl“, “Sunny and 75“, and the RIAA GOLD-certified single “Yeah.”

Prior to Nichols’ performance, the Music Festival will welcome the Feudin’ Hillbillies back to the stage.

With the help of drummer Derrick Roy and soundman Brad Jones, the Feudin’ Hillbillys drew large crowds to the festival stage until 2017.

Since 2005, the Hillbillys have been entertaining by the thousands all across the Midwest. When they aren’t drawing in crowds to local venues, they have also performed with such artists as Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line and Cole Swindell.
