Weather conditions prevented the Bulldogs from competing in a tournament at Sycamore, but instead they joined the field at Prairie Central on Saturday and captured team honors in the 17-school event.

M-S amassed 252 points to outdistance the runner-up host school, which ended with 212 points in the 35th-annual event.

M-S had two individual weight-class champions, three-runners-up and two third-place finishers.

Logan Petro (138 pounds) and Gage Granadino (152 pounds) dominated their weight divisions.

Petro was 5-0 for the day and registered four pins, all in the first period. Granadino was also 5-0 at Fairbury and posted three pins.

Granadino (23-7) was one of three Bulldogs to hit the 20-win mark on Saturday.

Other teammates joining him in that club were Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) and Seth Buchanan (285 pounds). Casillas has a 20-7 record after finishing third. He had one pin.

Buchanan (21-4) captured three first-period falls and ended second in his weight class.

The other M-S runners-up were Braeden Heinold (132 pounds) and Daniel Renshaw (220 pounds). They each landed two pins.

Heinold (12-1) suffered his first loss of the season in the finals when he dropped a 2-1 decision.

In all, 12 of the 14 M-S competitors posted at least one pin.

Two were by Payton Ragona, who took third place at 113 pounds. Chance Decker (145 pounds) totaled three pins en route to a fourth-place finish.

Decker was among five squad members who wound up fourth. Joining him were Caden Hatton (106 pounds), Noah Schnepper (126 pounds), Brennan Houser (160 pounds) and Hunter Crowley (182 pounds).

The other M-S placers were Hayden Nelson (ninth at 170 pounds) and Adam Pillischfske (10th at 120 pounds).

M-S (14-0 in dual meets) returns to action on Thursday at Effingham before returning home on Saturday to host the annual Marty Williams Invitational, which will start at 9 a.m.
