Patricio’s a “dream come true” for owner

There’s nothing that says the holidays like ordering out a pizza the night before the big meal.

It’s been a year now since Patricio’s has been filling the belly of Mahomet residents with their  original sauce and dough.

“We make our own over here so we try to keep everything fresh,” he said.

Patricio’s Pizza is also serving up wings, some pasta, meatballs and cheeseburgers.

Owner Lazaro Patricio got his start in the food business in Chicago where he envisioned owning his own establishment one day.

“I’ve been working on pizzas for a long time,” he said.

Hailing from Chicago did not stop Lazaro from pulling in some influences from New York when he created his pizza pie.

“Some will say your pizza tastes like Chicago (style), some people say it tastes like New York,” he said.

“The crust is not too thick and not too thin.”

Throughout pandemic conditions, balancing between mitigations that at all times allows for carryout and other times allows patrons to dine-in, the feedback for Patricio’s has been positive.

This week, Patricio’s is offering $2 off to any large pizza Monday through Thursday. They will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to Facebook.

Lazaro said his spot at 703 Eastwood Plaza is a “dream come true.”

“People are nice over here, it is a nice town,” he said. “I saw this spot, and I said, ‘Why not give it a shot over here?’
